Winchester Pest Control

Domestic & Commercial Pest Control

Winchester Pest Control is a family business, was started in 1993 by Joe Latham and is based in Chandlers Ford.

Joe Latham joined the British Army in 1960 and chose to study Environmental Health/Pest Control as a career. He went on to complete 22 years, and in this time carried out pest control in Malaya, Singapore, Borneo, Thailand, Australia, Malta and Germany. His knowledge of animal and insect pests and their control is quite extensive.

On leaving the British Army, he pursued his chosen career and continued pest control within local government. He worked for Worcester City Council and then Winchester City Council where he stayed until forming the present business.

Tina Healy (Daughter) took over the business in 2001 and has since obtained a British Pest Control Association Diploma in pest control. She is an experienced and very dedicated technician.

The business has built a large customer base, and has grown to become very successful with experience and expertise in most fields of pest control. We have worked closely with both Eastleigh Borough and Winchester City Councils, providing pest control when needed. We currently hold contracts with many colleges, schools, restaurants, public houses, farms etc.

The business is expanding gradually and will recruit technicians locally as it grows. We are members of the NPTA.

About Food Hygiene

All businesses connected with the Food Trade, whether it be raw materials, direct food handling, manufacture, storage, distribution or packaging, need to be aware that the presence of pests such as rodents, insects and birds pose a potentially serious risk of product contamination. It is therefore vitally important that steps are taken to prevent problems from arising, and to have a monitoring operation in place which ensures that should pests gain access, the problem is quickly identified and dealt with.

It is also essential for those people working in these industries to be aware of the ease in which pests gain access to premises, and for them to recognise their responsibilities with regard to house-keeping standards. The establishment of an active and effective working relationship with a Pest Control Contractor is a key factor in the maintenance of a pest and disease free premises.
